Vitamin A is necessary for cell growth, including hair cells, because hair is fastest growing tissue in human body. Vitamin A helps skin glands to produce oily substance – sebum. Sebum moisturises scalp and maintains healthy hair. In the body, beta carotin is converted to vitamin A, which protects hair from drying. Thanks to it, scalp glands produce fat which prevents hair from drying. Carrots are rich in beta carotin, thus inclusion in a daily diet may slow down hair loss. They are also rich in vitamin A, which improves scalp health and strengthens hair follicles.
